About Student Affairs

Student organizations are intra-university student organizations within Parahyangan Catholic University that serve as a means and method for the self-development of students towards broadening their horizons, enhancing their intelligence, and maintaining their personal integrity. The student organizations conduct various activities to improve student’s reasoning, knowledge, interests, hobbies, and welfare.

Student organizations are one of the platforms for the learning process component called “Belajar Mewujudkan Kehidupan Bersama” or “Learning to Live Together”. In this context, to ensure that the activities carried out in these organizations foster a process of maturity for the students, the University adopts more of a companion and facilitator role for the activities within these organizations.

At UNPAR there are two types of student activities. The first type is closely related to the student’s study program and is called Students Association or Himpunan Mahasiswa. The second type is an organization that accommodates activities across study programs based on student’s common interests and talents, such as arts and sports. This type of organization is called Students Activity Unit or Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM).

When associated with the learning process, student activities can be categorized as co-curricular activities, which are student activities that support their academic curriculum, and categorized as Extra-curricular if the student activities are not directly related to their academic curriculum.

Each study program at UNPAR recognizes only one Study Program Students Association or Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi, with a membership that is automatically given to each student of the respective study program.

The student activities of Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi are accompanied and facilitated by the Head of the Undergraduate Study Program, and the Head of the Faculty to which the Study Program is associated. Therefore, each Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi is required to always coordinate with the Head of its Undergraduate Study Program in designing plans and carrying out co-curricular activities.

UKM is an activity unit where the membership is voluntary and is open to every student of UNPAR. The organizational structure of each UKM is governed by the rules established by each UKM in accordance with its specific characteristics.
