Student Activity Units

In order to develop its student’s soft skills, UNPAR supports the development of student organizations at UNPAR through a number of student organization mobilization funds, co-curricular activity budgets, as well as student coaching. UNPAR students have stated that they are united in one organization, namely the UNPAR Student Association (Persatuan Mahasiswa / PM) which consists of a Student Representative Council (Majelis Perwakilan Mahasiswa / MPM), and the Student Executive Body (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa / BEM), whose president and members are annually elected directly by students.

In each study program, students automatically become members of the corresponding Study Program Student Association or Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi (HMPS). The existence of the student associations is to serve the needs of students, especially in their field of study.

The Student Executive Body (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa / BEM) coordinates student associations, as well as dozens of Student Activity Units (UKM), whose membership requires active enrollment and participation (meaning students need to actively register if they want to become UKM members). The purpose of UKM is to provide facilities for developing students’ interests and extra-curricular talents, such as arts, culture, sports, martial arts, and so on.

Students voluntarily and actively engage in student activities, to improve their abilities without interfering with their academic studies. Student activities provide insight in leadership, self-reliance, and at the same time opens up a world of social opportunities where students practice acceptance in the plurality of race, faith, and culture.
